Author's Notes:
=============
I've never done a remake of any map of mine before. I wanted to take this
on as a new challenge, and because everyone seems to be making remakes for
Unreal Tournament 2004. Volatile was my favourite map that I made for the
original Unreal Tournament. It had its flaws, and it wasn't all that
great to look at, but I loved the gameplay. I love simple designs for CTF
maps, where the game becomes less about figuring out where to go and more
about kicking ass. I decided to do this remake under the condition that
I would take the original, and improve upon as best I could. I really
think I achieved that. I believe this map stays true to the original, but
yet even better. There were a lot of changes I made.

-A bounce pad in each base instead of forcing the player to translocate to
the sniper area. This allows flag stealers to have a third and quicker
way to escape the enemy base with the flag.
-I removed the underwater shield belt tunnels. I felt it slowed down play
too much, and was more of a distraction.
-There are several more hidy places for a flag carrier to hide while
waiting for their team to return the flag. Look around your bases big wall
there are some alcoves and ledges if you know what to do.
-Three levels in the center instead of two. There is more Z-axis combat
as a result, and some cover from the snipers.
-An Ion Painter is available instead of the Redeemer.

Other than that, it is pretty similar. I think I succeeded in making this
map far better than the original. I'm more experienced and this was a fun
project. I really thought I made it extremely atmospheric, the waves, the
storm clouds, the wind and rain sounds, the sharp angled rain... I really
wanted to take advantage of Ut2k4's features to make it contrast the
original UT version as much as possible.
